Snakes!!!!

Ok so we were fishing for catfish this morning in our pond. 'becca had gotten a fish on the hook but the line had broken. So the fish got away with hook, bobber and all. A little later my brother saw the bobber come up to the top so we figured we'd better get it back. Mom and I pushed the boat into the pond and JJ (his nick name) and I jumped in and started for it. We got it and as we were on our way back to the shallow end when Fritzy one of our dogs started to yip and bark at something so mom went over to see what it was and it was a four foot long snake!!!! Mom called for my dad and he came over with a net and 'becca brought a bucket. This whole time JJ and I are going bonkers because we are stuck on the pond not getting to see it and everything so JJ literally jumped out of the boat onto the deep end (of water) bank. Well I decide that's as good as anything so I follow while mom holds the boat still. I was bare foot so I went over to get my shoes as mom starts to pull the boat twards the shallow end of the pond. Well the excitement wasn't over yet!!! I went and put on my flip flops and as I was walking back up the bank....I almost stepped on another snake!!!! I let out a little ahhh but JJ's was more a AHHHHH and quite a bit more high pitched which got me laughing!!! So as it turned out I almost stepped on the bigger of the two!!! Dad said it was about 5 feet long! The other snake was only about 4 feet long. So I ran up and called our uncle who likes snakes and stuff like that. He came about an hour later to get them and said that they were Fox snakes. When he looked at them we got a picture of the larger one.

So there was our excitement for today!!!!
